With the outcome of this last election and Trudeau back in office, Liberals are said to make Immigration to Canada much easier. They currently aspire to get rid of any and all justifications the immigration department uses to reject applicants. It has been the prime ministers objective since 2020 to expand Canada’s selection of immigrants and Refugees by nearly one-third to 400,000 on a yearly basis. How they intend to accomplish this raised level is illustrated in an inner draft report sent to immigration displaced person judges.
On Sept. 20, Richard Wex, CEO of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, laid out a huge development of the reasons foreigners should be permitted to enter and remain in Canada. Under the new provisions, civil service officers who do an initial screening of immigration and refugee claims are instructed to accept any applicant who has an “intersectional” claim. Intersectionality is defined as two or more of “race, religion, indigeneity, political beliefs, socioeconomic status, age, sexual orientation, culture, disability, or immigration status,” that “impact an individual’s lived experience of discrimination, marginalization or oppression. Applicants will also no longer have to demonstrate, that they face torture or death if forced to return to their home countries. Nor will they have to satisfy the UN’s definition of a “refugee.” With Canada being one of the country’s most open to immigrants, how long do you think it will take to reach this goal?
